The Advance Level Institutional Biotech Hub, established in 2011 and funded
by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology,
New Delhi, was created to strengthen the research capacity in Gohpur and nearby
areas. The primary objective of this initiative by DBT, New Delhi, is to foster
research in various branches of Biology, Life Science, Biotechnology, Environmental
Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Agriculture, and Veterinary Sciences.
Additionally, it aims to promote education and research, facilitate the development
and transfer of knowledge, and encourage students to pursue careers in diverse fields
of Biology and Biotechnology.
To further these goals, the Biotech Hub organizes summer and winter courses
for students and teachers from schools, colleges, and institutes, and establishes
linkages with other biotech hubs and institutes to foster interaction and collaboration.
Moreover, it conducts biotech awareness programs for farmers, the general public,
and NGOs, and publishes manuals and newsletters to disseminate information.
These facilities have been created with the objective of providing a central
resource for teaching and research across all areas of physical, environmental,
biological, allied, and interdisciplinary sciences. They serve Higher Secondary
Schools, Colleges, and University Departments within and beyond the state of Assam.
The faculty of the Department of Biotechnology at Chaiduar College is eager
to receive proposals for collaborative research, joint teaching, and training or
extension programs in both basic and applied sciences, as well as in interdisciplinary
fields.
